The Rev. Matthew A. Laferty is the chaplain of the Moscow Protestant Chaplaincy. Rev. Matthew is a minister and mission co-worker of The United Methodist Church. Prior to his appointment as the twentieth chaplain of Moscow Protestant Chaplaincy (MPC), Matthew served as a pastoral associate at Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church in Branford, Connecticut, USA. He has also worked for the Council on European Studies at Yale University, the Connecticut AIDS Resource Coalition, and The United Methodist Church’s ecumenical commission.
He holds a Master of Divinity degree from Yale Divinity School in New Haven, Connecticut, USA. In 2011 Matthew was awarded the Edward Downes Prize for proficiency in the public reading of the Scriptures and of hymns from Yale University. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and international studies from Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio, USA, where he graduated cum laude and with university honors.
Matthew’s hometown is Crestline, Ohio, USA.
