SOUP KITCHENS' UPDATE
At Lebedeva Soup Kitchen, MPC serves hot meals to 200 elderly Russian pensioners. Originally opened in 1991 at a local stalovya, or cafeteria, many of our clients have been with MPC since the opening, a testament to the value of our services to this specific demographic. The average pensions for Muscovites is $120/month, and one daily hot meal greatly alleviates the financial burden which many elderly pensioners face.
At Kuznetsky Most Soup Kitchen, MPC serves daily meals to 100 young widows and single mothers with several children. The majority of our clients take the food to go in order to enjoy the meal with their family at home. Kuznetsky Most has become a place of community and support for many low-income mothers, and a daily meal for the entire family eases the financial burden for their everday stuggles.
